YahYah

YahYah is marking her territory in the music industry one step at a time. Raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey, her musical journey began in church on the Great Faith Deliverance Temple youth choir and praise team. Through her childhood years, and into middle school she was a member of the Police Athletic League’s performing arts programs. The Director at the time, Michael Bailey was a huge part of YahYahs growth as a singer and entertainer. Once she reached high school, YahYah was given the opportunity to be the opening performer for music artists including Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, and a few others. After graduating from Atlantic City High and singing a production deal with an independent company, she then moved to New York City. After traveling back and forth from NY to NJ for a few years and experiencing some financial difficulties, she was granted the opportunity to tour the world with Multi-Platinum Recording Artist Shaggy after being featured on his 2013 album “Out Of Many One Music”. This opportunity not only opened up YahYah’s view on music and artistry but also the world and her ability to one day travel the world as a musical artist herself. YahYah whose vocal ability is unique and cannot go unnoticed has not only fallen deeper in love with music over the last couple of years but with the stage. Her move to Atlanta in 2014 played a huge role in this. “When I hit the stage my focus is to take my audience on a journey and to share all of me, the good and the bad” when asked to describe her live show. Being in an area full of creatives, especially African Americans, and seeing their success as well as the will to support one another, gave YahYah a second wind of motivation to continue pursuing music. Her first official release was “Favorite” which was released in July of 2016 when she was still known as “Samira Lashay”. The YahYah name change came along at the end of 2019 when she decided it was time to rebrand and take her music to the next level. 2020 is the year she decided to be resilient. To not listen to the naysayers but to do what she felt as an artist. Since this year she has released two songs so far, “Days Inn” & “All Bad”. Which both carry powerful messages and relate directly with the audience. Over the past few years, YahYah has worked alongside well-known music producers such as Sly and Robbie, She’kspere, Chris N Teeb, Sting International, Dominic Gordon, & Ayo & Keyz to name a few. She has made quite a mark here on the Atlanta music scene and her goal is to reach scenes all around the world. Not only is she an artist, but she writes the majority of her music as well. Within her writing accolades she has touched lyrics for those of Ke Ke Wyatt and Bridgett Kelly. Joining multiple writing camps for some of today's top-charting artists, her goal is to be a part of a number one record whether it be for herself or someone else. In April of 2020 she received her first TV placement with the Fox hit show,” Empire” called “Back Ends” by Kashdoll. YahYah is now ready to share her music with the world, and take the support she has garnered within the music industry and her abilities to self produce, write and engineer while creating something for her core fan base. As she continues to chase her destiny and music journey, watch her go from a burgeoning star and become a household name.
