Itz Boi Boi

Brooklyn has bred some of the greatest rappers to grace the earth and ITZBOIBOI fits right in. From the gritty streets of Flatbush, Brooklyn—home to a mashup of Caribbean flavor blended with African-American soul, Boi Boi grew up in a household of old school Reggae and R&B music which would cultivate his ear for the sound. The beat. The rhythm. The mood. But when he heard, Eric B. and Rakim's raw, unfiltered, power heavy, "I Ain't No Joke" on Ralph MacDaniel's Video Music Box, he knew he found his passion—Hip hop. As a youngster, Boi Boi studied the masters, and he honed his craft by listening to and breaking down the nuances in artists' styles, like the drunken master rants of Biz Markie, the mellow yet pouncing lyricist LL COOL J, and countless others. As Hip-Hop developed into the mighty beast that it is, Boi Boi developed as well, diggin' on his favorite artists Snoop, Nas, Biggie and Jay Z. While In junior high school, Boi Boi learned that spitting rhymes meant nothing if you didn't know how to write and how to tell a story. So he called upon his father, Ganious, a multimedia artist, to help him hone his writing craft. Boi Boi found the art of poetry really allowed him to express his innermost thoughts. At 12, Boi Boi's love for poetry led him to write scores of poems—he'd become a published poet at 16. Simultaneously, he wrote rhymes and battled his peers in high school, the streets, the barbershop, and even appeared in the late, great Gregory Hines' film, "The Tic Code." Boi Boi inked his first deal with indie label Grind Season in 2009 under the alias, "Baby Boi Nate." There he hosted 40/40 clubs, toured, and performed various shows such as, "Bash at the Bay" in Ohio. His romantic single, "I'll be there" generated buzz and received airplay all over the east coast and several other states in the midwest and central US. In 2010, Boi Boi appeared in the "Next to Blow" section of the HIP HOP WEEKLY magazine. In 2011, he split with his label and dropped the mixtape, "Motion Picture," featuring well-received tracks that garnered great feed back on songs such as the jaw-dropping, "I Gets It In" and the heart-pounding, mesmerizing, "Microphone Murder". After that, Boi Boi went to the lab and came out fresh and unhinged. The evolution created his new name, Itz Boi Boi—and his experiences have amped his music up to the next level—a level where the artist is raw, emboldened, and free. This is what makes his music so dope. This itch to liberate the message in his heart. In 2016, Boi Boi dropped the remake of Jay Z's classic cut, "Can I Live", produced by Antonio "Luckaveli" Jackson, and it's getting mad buzz on the streets. Next came the banger produced by Jelz of, "Thee Elite" titled, "What It Look Like,"—with a sharp 90s boom bap feel that stands shoulder to shoulder with others of its genre. Itz Boi Boi is comin' at ya' hard to show off his immaculate skills. Let the HIP HOP culture know that another dope great MC is here for the takeover! Itz Ya Boi!
